Overview
TermForge is a study app designed to help pre-health students learn medical terminology through an immersive RPG world. By combining role-playing with structured learning, the game gives students a reason to keep going — defeat bosses, save the kingdom, and master a subject that can feel like learning a new language.
Challenge
Medical terminology is notoriously difficult to learn — dense, unfamiliar, and easy to confuse. Many terms feel overwhelming at first glance. The challenge was to break complex terms down into digestible morphemes — roots, prefixes, and suffixes — and make that process feel approachable and even fun, rather than rote and repetitive.
Outcome
I gamified the learning process by building an immersive world that holds the learner's attention while they practice deconstructing and building medical terms. Students stay engaged through narrative stakes and progression, turning what's typically a dry study task into an experience worth coming back to.
